*In those all residencies, the entry is by indirect pass, for instance: "Neurosurgery, Paediatric* 2/8", it does mean, that the requisites for admission to this residency are
1 year of general surgery, and 5 years of neurosurgery, and the duration of the paediatric neuro surgery are 2 years, so then the overall duration of the formation for this residence are 8 years.

3. Are there examinations during the residency? How are the residents’ evaluated?:

Yes, usually there are three types of examinations by year: By the hospital, by the university and by the council of the speciality chosen

Section B. Finance
1. A. Is there a tuition fee for the residency? If so, how much (in euro or usd)?:

For foreigners, there is a tuition fee around 100 US dollars per year.
For Mexicans its free.

2. What is the annual salary (in euro or u.s.d)?:

The foreigners DONT GET PAID!
For the Mexicans, the salary is around ~ US$10000 in the first year, but it increases up to US$20000 in the fourth year

3. How expensive are the costs of living (average annual expenditure in euro or u.s.d)?:

Around 7.000 Euros a year (basic life: accommodation, food, transportation)

Section C. Application Procedure
1. Accreditation procedure:

You need to homologate your MD diploma and get your "Cédula Profesional" in order to be licensed to practice medicine. Then you need to pass the "ENARM" test to get the right to do a residency. Once time you have passed it, you need to apply for a place in a hospital which offers the chosen residency. Finally you need to register your residency to any university which can certify your residency.

3. Differences in application procedure depending on country of origin:

There are determined places for Mexican applicants and determined places for foreign applicants. So the Mexicans compete the Mexicans and the foreigners compete the foreigners.
As a foreigner, its easier to gain a residency place because usually there are less applicants.

4. Ratio between applicants and physicians who finally obtain a residency position:

For the Mexicans is around 30 000 applicants per year for 3000 positions, so the ratio is around 10%.
For the foreigners is much easier to be accepted.

5. Does everyone who passes the medical license examinations gain a residency position in a hospital?:

No. We all have to do an exam that will decide in which residency (if any) we can enter.

6. Specialties in which it is most difficult to obtain a position:

Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Gynaecology

7. Is there a waiting list for medical graduates who want to begin a residency?:

No, there is not any kind of queue. Everyone have to apply for the ENARM test, and if it is not passed, it is possible to apply for it the next year.

9. Requirements for international physicians to be able to work in this country after completing their specialization there:

It is necessary to apply for a job vacancy in a hospital.
