After 2 years into the residency program, a resident may sit for the DCPS which is diploma examination (optional). Otherwise the resident will have to sit for his FCPS Part 2 examination at end of his residency to become a specialist in his/her chosen field.
Day to day basis. And then FCPS Part 2 exam at the end of residency program.

4. How many hours of work per week are there?:

Varies. Anything from 60 – 100 hours per week

5. What is the ratio between this country’s doctors and its population?:

1: 40,000

6. Which languages are necessary for the medical residency?:

Urdu and English.

Section B. Finance
1. A. Is there a tuition fee for the residency? If so, how much (in euro or usd)?:

There is no tuition fee.

2. What is the annual salary (in euro or u.s.d)?:

$ 3,000. But one can establish a private practice on the side.

3. How expensive are the costs of living (average annual expenditure in euro or u.s.d)?:

$ 2,600 - $ 3,000

Section C. Application Procedure
1. Accreditation procedure:

All international graduated medical students should sit for the National Examination Boards (NEB). In order to get registration with the PMDC the candidate must clear these exams which are conducted twice a year. After clearing the exam the candidate is given a temporary registration with PMDC which will become a permanent registration after completing a mandatory post of house officer for one year in a recognized hospital.

2. Other requirements:

He/she just has to complete one year of house job in an accredited hospital.

3. Differences in application procedure depending on country of origin:

Once they clear the NEB exams and finish their house job they are equivalent to local doctors

4. Ratio between applicants and physicians who finally obtain a residency position:

1:2

5. Does everyone who passes the medical license examinations gain a residency position in a hospital?:

Almost all International Doctors are given residency positions. Chances are 90%

6. Specialties in which it is most difficult to obtain a position:

Neuro surgery and pathology

South Asian and Middle Eastern Nations

9. Requirements for international physicians to be able to work in this country after completing their specialization there:

They are allowed to do so. All they have to do is get a work permit or a work visa from the Ministry of immigration.
