3. Are there examinations during the residency? How are the residents’ evaluated?:

Yes, by the tutor during the residency period and there is a final evaluation in the end of whole residency.

40 hours per week plus shifts (3-4 per month)

Lithuanian

Section B. Finance
1. A. Is there a tuition fee for the residency? If so, how much (in euro or usd)?:

For the citizens of EU countries, residency is free.
Citizens from other countries have to pay for it, about 4950 Euro per year.

2. What is the annual salary (in euro or u.s.d)?:

It is around 233 euro per month (2790 euro per year).

3. How expensive are the costs of living (average annual expenditure in euro or u.s.d)?:

200-300 euro per month (basic needs: accommodation, food, transportation)

Section C. Application Procedure
1. Accreditation procedure:

1. Certificate from your university which will has to be verified by verify Study Quality Evaluation Center of Lithuania..
2. Certificate which will verify your Lithuanian language knowledge in the third degree.skills (third level).

2. Other requirements:

You have to give these documents:
1. Application for the Rector of the University, where you have to write up to 5 residencies by the priority.
2. Copy of the Passport or identifications card.
3. Copy of the certificate of Primary residency professional qualification. (if it exists in your country)
4. Bank check of registration fee (if you are paying for the residency)
5. Any other documents, which might be usefull to prove your ambitions to get this certain residency.

4. Ratio between applicants and physicians who finally obtain a residency position:

It depends on the residency. It can be 1:1 up to 1:10.

5. Does everyone who passes the medical license examinations gain a residency position in a hospital?:

Every students gets a place in the hospital for the residency, however there is a competition for every specialization. Your grades and motivation to get a certain residency will be assessed.

6. Specialties in which it is most difficult to obtain a position:

Depends on the year , but this year it was Opththalmology, Plastic Surgery, Cardiology.

7. Is there a waiting list for medical graduates who want to begin a residency?:

No

8. Countries, except this one, in which the medical residency title is recognized:

In the member states of the European Union coutries

9. Requirements for international physicians to be able to work in this country after completing their specialization there:

Once a physician finishes the specialization he/she has the same oppotunities to get a job regardless of his origin being international or Lithuanian. The international physician will need a working-VISA, but that is the only requirement.
