3. Are there examinations during the residency? How are the residents’ evaluated?:

Yes,
The exams are served to the students by the head of each department… i.e. internal medicine, pediatrics etc… each residency has their head physician of physician in charge and he evaluates the residents.
The exams are taken at the end of the final year of the residency.

4. How many hours of work per week are there?:

30-45 hours/week (not including guards)

5. What is the ratio between this country’s doctors and its population?:

1/5000

6. Which languages are necessary for the medical residency?:

Hungarian is the state official language but English is also avalaible, as well as German.

Section B. Finance
1. A. Is there a tuition fee for the residency? If so, how much (in euro or usd)?:

no… actually you get paid for your residency

2. What is the annual salary (in euro or u.s.d)?:

6000 euro.

3. How expensive are the costs of living (average annual expenditure in euro or u.s.d)?:

An average apartment is 300 euro a month … plus food, wich is 100 euro a month in grocerys plus expenses… social expenses.

Section C. Application Procedure
1. Accreditation procedure:

Well they have to present all of their credentials, and their university´s to the education ministry of that country, where it will be submitted to evaluation by a jury who will decide if you are equalized.
After that, there is a 2 year internship program, common to all the specialities, that the doctor has to take in order to obtain a residency place.

2. Other requirements:

A medical practice insurance is required, but some hospitals provide that for you.
What is more, an intermediate language exam in one of the spoken languages.

3. Differences in application procedure depending on country of origin:

Yes… international medical graduates from outside EU need to validate their degree.
(EU students don't need to)

4. Ratio between applicants and physicians who finally obtain a residency position:

1:10

5. Does everyone who passes the medical license examinations gain a residency position in a hospital?:

No, because there are more students than residency places.

6. Specialties in which it is most difficult to obtain a position:

Neurosurgery, chest surgery, cardiovascular surgery and GI surgery, as well as Pediatrics.

7. Is there a waiting list for medical graduates who want to begin a residency?:

Not exactly, but there is the list of the waiting students.

8. Countries, except this one, in which the medical residency title is recognized:

All the EU

9. Requirements for international physicians to be able to work in this country after completing their specialization there:

If they’re from abroad they need a work visa… but if they are from the EU they don’t need that kind of visa
