Every year the government issues a list with available positions for specialization. The graduated students have to fulfill an application form at the chosen medical university.

The local applicants have to pass an exam. Depending on their grades, the University issues a list of successful applicants.

There is no exam for the foreign applicants. They only have to fulfill an application form at the Section for postgraduate students of the chosen university.

For applicants having dual nationality (one of their parents Bulgarian) there are some differences: after negotiations between the countries they are usually accepted after. They have to pay half of the fee required for the foreign students.
